FLUX.
It all began with a poem. FLUX by Orion Carloto is a short poem book my flatmate had been reading for leisure around the time of this project starting. She had recommended the book to me and during my initial read through, like most things, I started creating visuals in my head. The idea of interpreting these poems into illustrations was a creative and amazing idea. A way to both explore something so simple but also to get comfortable with working towards my own brief.
This project changed my way of creative process in many ways. firstly, it was one of my first projects using a digital platform, photoshop, to create illustrations. secondly, i created projects based upon themes given to me in the past and this was one of many to come that used an belief, creative contents or enviromental influence to spark the project.
I initially created the black background images with idea of creating a neon effect. I choose this as I wanted my illustrations to stand out and though a very random conversation about seeing colours and shapes when ur eyes are closed, I wanted to recreate a similar appearance. I later thought how inverted filters bring out the detail that you initially miss which lead me to invert the original images and create the white background illustrations.
